I am a huge fan of the Souls games but due to a variety of circumstances I had never played the original. With release on the PS5 this grievous error was at last corrected. First of all, this remaster is stunning – it looks fabulous. Gameplay wise, it’s a little rough around the edges as you’d expect. It does contain some gameplay mechanics which are improved upon significantly in Dark Souls and there are a couple of frustrating levels and boss fights which could have done with a bit of tweaking here and overall it was really a joy to experience.
